The International Society of Aquatic Medicine was formed in 1975 by a distinguished group of physicians whose common interests centered around scuba diving medicine. Almost all of our members are divers who enjoy the exclusive company of our worldwide adventures.
The society offers unique opportunities to dive in exotic places and at the same time obtain knowledge and CME credit. Our programs include diving medicine, such as hyperbaric medicine, diving safety, venomous animal sting and bites, and diagnosis and treatment of diving injuries, In addition, we share the lastest ideas and techniques in diving and trends of the diving and hyperbaric industry.
Our annual meetings are help in the Caribbean area, and it is at that time that most of our memberdhip attends. Several times during the year smaller groups venture to even more exclusive locales such as Fiji, such as the Coral Sea, Australia, and many other dive sites in the Caribbean.
On each of our smaller trips, we have instructor to provide stimulating conversations and lectures pertinent to diving. Our annual spring meeting is always help the week before Memorial Day in May of each year from a Saturday to Saturday. Our annual summer meeting is help the first week in August the University of Tennessee. The smaller meetings offer category 2 CME credits.
The Society publishes a quaterly to update all 1,800 members. Included with the newsletter are topics of current interest of diving medicine, the ecology of the oceans, and personal experiences of exotic dive locales and new advances made in scuba diving.
