The 37th Annual Spring Meeting will find us at the all- new Divi Flamingo Resort in Bonaire.

ISAM is excited about returning to Bonaire in 2012. Located in the southern Caribbean just 50 miles from Venezuela, this Dutch island offers scuba divers an ideal diving climate with calm waters, strictly protected underwater life, and visibility up to 100 feet. Bonaire combines precipitous drop-offs with miles of easily accessible shallow reefs – making this island destination a scuba diver’s dream.

Ideal weather conditions, 3 scheduled boat dives and unlimited shore dives allow divers endless opportunities to explore their passion for diving. The house reef at the Divi Flamingo resort is one of the best on the island and just steps away from your room. Dive anytime, day or night! ISAM has reserved oceanfront deluxe guestrooms, offering full ocean views with private balconies.

Every deluxe room includes two double beds, air-conditioning, refrigerator, coffee maker, television and in-room safe. Divi Dive Bonaire conveniently provides five custom dive boats, guest gear storage, fully equipped dive shop, and an experienced dive crew with over ten years experience diving in Bonaire. Morning, afternoon, and night boat dives are available to guests, and fabulous shore diving is available 24 hours a day from the Flamingo beach or dive dock.

Diving conditions in Bonaire include no strong currents, no big seas and short boat rides- keeping your topside time comfortable- while good visibility, dense coral growth and a multitude of brightly colored reef fish allow you to enjoy our underwater wonderland.

Come and discover why Divi Dive Bonaire of Divi Flamingo Beach Resort, a PADI five-star dive resort with five custom dive boats, expert dive crew, hasslefree boat dive packages, and more, is considered one of the top diving resorts in the world.

Diving Highlights Include: More than 80 dive sites have been marked with the
best reefs found within the protected leeward side of the island where the reefs have a narrow, sloping terrace extending seaward with a drop-off at 33 feet, followed by a slope varying from 30 feet to a vertical wall of 100 to 200 feet deep.

Created through volcanic eruptions, Bonaire is an underwater mountain with fringe reefs that are easily accessible from the shoreline in front of every hotel or any part of the island. Located well outside the hurricane belt and therefore protected from reef damage, Bonaire offers world-class diving and snorkeling. Bonaire’s pristine reefs and diverse marine life are unique to the Caribbean. Because the waters around Bonaire are designated as an official marine park, diving Bonaire is like diving the Caribbean the way it used to beuntouched and unspoiled.

Ann Barker-Griffith, MD of SUNY Upstate Medical University will conduct the scientific session. The target audience is physicians and other allied health professionals.
